In computing, a crash is any error which causes the system to malfunction. Crashes can occur when running software which requires hardware which is unavailable, or when incompatible software programs or hardware devices are being used. A crash usually results in the cessation of the program, with an error message being displayed on the screen. Sometimes, a crash requires the system to be reset in order to regain control of the computer.
